TAK — Team Awareness Kit — was built for warfighters who needed to know where everyone and everything was, live, on one map.
That problem isn’t military. That problem is anyone with land, cameras, drones, and sensors.
The stack
| Layer | What it does |
|---|---|
| TAK Server | The hub — receives every position, every event, every sensor reading |
| CoT (Cursor on Target) | The protocol — a tiny XML fragment that says “this thing is here, right now” |
| NATS | The nervous system — every event flows through the bus |
| ClickHouse | The time machine — 10 years of event history, queryable |
On the homestead
The same architecture that coordinates a platoon coordinates a property:
- Cameras → objects detected → events on the bus → dots on the map
- Drones → position telemetry → CoT → live tracks
- Sensors → soil moisture, temp, gate state → streams → alerts
- Agents → watching everything, annotating what matters
One map. Everything on it. History queryable. That’s situational awareness.
Why it matters
Sovereignty is knowing what’s happening on your own land without renting the awareness from someone else’s cloud. TAK is the chassis for that — battle-tested, open, and ours.
